As successful music men go Armen Boladian of Westbound Records has to be one of the more reckless. Gargantuan amounts of time were spent in the studio, with whole symphony orchestras being drafted in to produce some of the wildest funk and disco sounds around. As Motown went way out West, Detroit's finest session players were drafted in to sweeten the Southern rhythm tracks of the Detroit Emeralds or later produce the monolithic dance tracks produced by Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey. Without loosing touch with the need for a song Armen produced the other great Detroit label and some of the most adventurous an exciting music of the 70s; and that's without mentioning...
