There was a time when funk fans weren’t collectors and their preferred format was the LP. All that changed in the late 90s with the success of Keb Darge’s Deep Funk night. The “Super Funk” series was launched at this heady moment, aimed at showing the great wealth of funky music that was recorded in the United States in the late 60s and early 70s. Each volume is full to the brim of obscure and rare items such as the Uniques’ ‘Give Me Another Chance’, at one point the world’s most expensive funk 45, or the Love Experience’s ‘Are You Together For The New Day?’, another record that would set you back a four-figure sum to own. The series also includes sought-after gems and many previously unreleased masterpieces, perhaps most notably Billy Garner’s ‘Brand New Girl’, which has since become a classic. Be assured whichever volume you pick you will be guaranteed to find a good groove.
