Formed in Tacoma, Washington, the Wailers were already established by the start of the 60s, having had a #36 hit with ‘Tall Cool One’ in 1959. Following this they dominated the North-West scene, proving influential on the Kingsmen, Paul Revere & the Raiders and the Sonics. Key members were Kent Morrill, Buck Ormsby and “Rockin’” Robin Roberts. In 1961 they formed their own Etiquette label on which they issued the definitive version of ‘Louie Louie’, followed by other singles and albums through until 1967. As well as Etiquette, there were also short-term deals with Imperial (1964), United Artists (1966) and Bell (1968) but their career decisions were very much about maintaining their autonomy. Ace is proud to offer their key 60s albums as twofers, each including bonus tracks.
