The late 50s/early 60s was the hit era for Dion & the Belmonts and other Italian-American groups from the New York boroughs. This is the time the UK’s Roomates revere and emulate to a tee. Their ability to write and harmonise in that style has brought them a steady and dedicated fan base. Formed in the mid-80s as a quintet, by 1990 they had found their classic line-up of Steve and Mark Webb, Nick Kennedy and Glenn Brentnall. The group have attracted appreciation from all over the world, including from members of the Mystics, the Earls, the original Roomates and even Dion, for whom they got to provide back-up at a London gig. Their Ace CDs contain many original numbers along with well-chosen covers of classic doo wop songs.
