Don (born 1937) and Phil Everly (1939) were raised in a musical household with both parents being successful C&W radio singers. After a stuttering start in Nashville they were picked up by Cadence Records where they scored a 1957 million-seller with ‘Bye Bye Love’, their first release. Eight gold discs followed until they moved to the new Warner Bros label in 1960 where they immediately had their biggest seller with ‘Cathy’s Clown’ which they followed with many other hits. They suffered somewhat during the British Invasion but maintained popularity in the UK. After fine country rock work in the late 60s they moved to RCA. Later there were fraternal splits and solo careers until they reunited in the 80s.
