Good news for vinyl addicts: by popular request from rockabilly fans and collectors, following the success of our “By The Bayou” series of CDs, we’re releasing a batch of 7-inch singles showcasing 1950s dancefloor-fillers from the vaults of J.D. Miller. Of the featured tracks, only Tommy Todd’s ‘Tag Along’ has previously appeared in that format – and that disc is so rare only a handful are known.
Tommy Todd’s take on ‘Tag Along’ is the insanely rare first issue which, like the Rocket Morgan version from some six months later, appeared on J.D. Miller’s Zynn label. It is hot rockabilly with a thrashing guitar solo. Tommy Todd was one of the aliases of highly talented singer-songwriter Clifford Trahan, who also saw releases as Jerry Jericho, Johnny Blaine, Johnny Rebel and Pee Wee Trayhan. On ‘She’s Coming Back Again’, Wiley Jeffers contributes a raw rockabilly sound with a driving beat and hot guitar. His only known release back in the day was when a J.D. Miller recording of ’My Love Is True’ was leased by Murray Nash and issued on Do-Re-Mi as ‘Oh Yeah’ by Wally Jeffery.
