Orgasm is a Westbound "best of" the Ohio Players, those sex-funksters who gave the world 1972's Funky Worm, as well as Pain, Pleasure, Ecstasy and Climax (all on Orgasm). From Hamilton, Ohio, the band were originally called The Ohio Untouchables. They played as session musicians on recordings such as The Falcons' 1962 single I Found A Love (featuring Wilson Pickett) and as The Untouchables recorded for Lupine (I'm Tired), TRC, Compass (It's A Crying Shame) and Capitol (Observations In Time). That year, they changed their name to The Ohio Players and a move to Westbound resulted in all of the great 1973-74 sides heard on Orgasm, including the previously unissued Ain't That Lovin' You (For More Reasons Than One). Their sound is still one of the most influential in '70s funk. After Westbound, they went on to sign with Mercury and gain 3 gold singles, 2 gold and 3 platinum LPs, but this collection gathering together all those erotically-funky, classic early Westbound hits, runs a perfect gamut of emotions that will suit any seriously-'70s minded soul or funk fan.
