Selected releases
-
Clark Sisters
The Clark Sisters loom large over the modern gospel landscape, something that rests mainly on the legacy of their soul and jazz-influenced recordings for Detroit’s Sound Of Gospel label. Sample the highlights here.
-
Here are the Sonics!
The Sonics took rock'n'roll by the scruff of the neck and thrashed it to within an inch of its life. This facsimile release of their first LP comes on 180g black vinyl. Barcode and other current information have been placed on a sticker to leave the artwork intact.
-
Tea & Symphony
The English Baroque sound shunned guitar solos for string quartets and woodwind, drenched in summer-into-autumn melancholy. Never far away from the charts of the late 60s and early 70s, it was informed by Paul McCartney’s ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘For No One’, the Zombies’ “Odessey And Oracle”, and the chamber pop of the Bee Gees and Scott Walker. Just add a harpsichord, a pot of tea and a ginger cat on the windowsill.
-
Scott Walker Meets Jacques Brel
Scott Walker’s interpretations of the nine Jacques Brel songs from his “Scott”, “Scott 2” and “Scott 3” albums, followed by Brel’s original French recordings.
-
Spring NYC Soul
Rarities from New York’s Spring, Event and Posse labels. 23 tracks on Kent CD for the first time, including six previously unreleased.
