Born in Pittsburgh in 1943, Eric Andersen became part of the Greenwich Village folk scene after he had hitchhiked West to experience the travelling hobo lifestyle. Very much respected by his peers, he was signed to Vanguard in 1964 where he cut his debut album “Today Is The Highway”, which included his sensual song ‘Come To My Bedside’. His second LP “’Bout Changes And Things” introduced two of his best-known songs, ‘Thirsty Boots’ and ‘Violets Of Dawn’, the latter inspiring Leonard Cohen to begin writing songs as well as being a key number in the early Fairport Convention repertoire. He left Vanguard in 1969 and eventually moved to Europe where he continued a career that included a collaboration with the Band’s Rick Danko.
