Cecile Kayirebwa was always immersed in the diverse music of her country Rwanda, regardless of tribal or social standing. Aged 15 she became a founding member of the Rwanda Song and Dance Circle. Later, as a welfare officer, she was afforded the opportunity to travel and absorb the poetry and song of the entire country. She relocated to Belgium in 1973 and studied music there at the Royal Museum of Central Africa and formed the group Inyange. Over the next ten years she released a series of cassettes and these were compiled into a GlobeStyle CD in 1994. She has continued to tour and record.
