San Francisco-based Bobby Freeman first hit as an 18 year-old with the oft-covered ‘Do You Want To Dance’, a Top 5 record in 1958 on the Josie label. He managed several other hits with diminishing chart placings, leading to a move to King Records, where he cut many good early soul sides, with ‘(I Do The) Shimmy Shimmy’ making the Top 40. His second coming really happened with his move to the new Autumn logo in 1964 when he reached the Top 5 with ‘C’Mon And Swim’. He released an album and several other dance-related songs including a version of Jackie Lee’s ‘The Duck’, but wasn't able to follow up the success. He subsequently moved to the Double Shot and Loma labels and maintained a steady club career on the West Coast.
